About Me

Rachael Scarpelli

Hi, I’m Rachael

Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer

As you may have noticed, my name isn’t spelled like the traditional “Rachel.” I’ve got a second “a” hidden in there. My parents tell me they wanted my name to be, shall we say, “unique”. And although they were setting me up to have my name misspelled for the rest of my life, they certainly got what they were asking for.

From a very young age, I’ve been passionate about photography. As a child, my mother would buy me disposable film cameras. Later, I was given my first DSLR, and I couldn’t be separated from it. I’m thrilled that I’ve now been able to turn that hobby into a career—doing what I love every day!

I LOVE weddings. No, seriously. I love them! From the flowers and the gown, to hearing the happy couple being pronounced husband and wife, I will never tire of the magic of a wedding day. It’s one of the most beautiful and meaningful days a person will ever experience, and I view it as an honour to be there to capture it.

Coming from an Italian background, I also view family (and those adopted as family) as very important, so I don’t limit my work to weddings. Bring on the kiddos, the ‘rents, and anyone else you view as family! I love to capture authentic moments of people’s beautiful personalities.

My Philosophy:

Capture the Truth.

I was once told in photography class, “Photos lie. One hundred percent of the time.” My teacher explained that we live in a “picture perfect world,” where a photo doesn’t allow a person to see beyond the frame. From the moment I heard those words, I took them as a personal challenge. It’s true that a photo might not give complete context. But it can share a feeling, an emotion, or a story, and I view it as my purpose as a photographer to convey these truthfully. I want to capture people for who they truly are, because truth lies in the genuine. It’s an honour for me to capture your truths.
